Thinking about placement...
For my placement I would like to shadow an artist, which could be helpful with the queries and concerns I have after graduating. I have been advised to research artists that are currently setting up an exhibition, or an artist that welcomes students to visit their studios and have art related conversations and various tasks.
This idea seemed exiting when discussing it with my lecturers. However, a wave of insecurities and fear clouded my thinking process. I began doubting myself which negatively affected my current practice. Another factor that made this idea a bit harder to tackle was the expenses, as I didn't want to limit myself to just the local area, but to be more ambitious and broaden my chances.
The lecturers and I explored other possibilities of this placement to take place. Airspace gallery was mentioned, where a graduate is currently doing her residency and gathering materials for a solo exhibition. I thought that the placement was feasible, as not only is it accessible, but because she recently graduated, it would be useful to get an insight from someones position i will be filling in a year's time.
